Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed in October since 1985. The month-long event is mostly meant to raise awareness about the disease, reminding women that early detection is key. It’s also an opportunity for organizations involved in studying breast cancer and developing potential treatments to raise funds to support their activity.

The Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) has a team of 1000 researchers involved in 380 research projects. Several of these are specifically focused on breast cancer and are the reason why every year in October we donate the proceeds from sales of our Glacial White Caviar Hydra-Pure Shampoo Pink Edition to the AECC.

Breast cancer - What you should know

Over 2 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, around the world. While this disease is hard to prevent, it’s significantly easier to treat when detected early. That is why one of the main goals of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to remind women to screen themselves for lumps frequently and schedule a mammogram.

The very first step is to know what is normal for your breasts. Most women will notice some inconsistency in breast tissue is normal throughout the month, and especially around menstruation. Once you’ve established a baseline of what is normal for you, it’s recommended to perform a self-examination for breast cancer monthly. Make sure you also schedule a yearly mammogram which will help you detect any issues even before a lump forms.
